Belief in Giving Back
Willingham was a board member of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix, and one of the founders, and National Board Chairperson, of Kids at Hope, that began in 2000. Rebelling against the “kids-at-risk” concept, Kids at Hope motto is, “All children are capable of success . . . no exceptions!”
Kids at Hope is installed in schools and juvenile correction centers to create a class room culture of hope, success, and optimism. Over 600,000 kids have had the benefits of the personal growth it offers. It’s now in schools in twenty states, and several systems in Canada. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Arizona mandated it be installed in all fifteen juvenile justice systems in Arizona.
Chief Joanne Jaffe, of the NYPD, is leading it’s installation in the nineteen juvenile detention centers in New York, City.
